Livistona

33 species. This is a very widespread and diverse genus that extends from Africa through southern Asia to east Asia and Australia. It includes many excellent fan palms for subtropical and tropical landscapes. Most are tall, striking palms with long, hanging leaflets. At Fairchild, Livistona palms are important components of the Garden's vistas. Many species have very striking silhouettes. Livistona chinensis is invasive in many tropical and subtropical regions, including South Florida.
